As you know every Friday we go out and scout around local thrift shops for great items that we can re-sell through our Finding Fashion Trademe boutique. The best part is finding something truly great for an amazing price, or something quirky that isn’t seen all the time.
Some weeks you just get magically lucky and score an item for a really great price – you have to look though…really look hard. This instance, I was trawling through black sweaters – usually I don’t bother as there are a heap of them. But this one garment caught my eye and deserved a closer inspection.
It was a nice hoody and imagine my surprise when I found the label was Chalky Digits and the garment was actually merino wool.
I get cold. All the time. Merino is my go to for about nine months of the year.
So I was wrapped to find this little gem. In case you don’t know about Chalky Digits, they are based in Christchurch and their tag line is Ethical Fashion Made in New Zealand.
The website states they remain committed to NZ manufacture, using sustainable practices and materials as much as they can, and give something back to the environment.
I like the philosophy behind that, and see they are promoting a set of collectable badges you can buy for $25 on their website, and that money will go towards possum eradication.
Anyway, they have a great range of warm clothing online on their website here: www.chalkydigits.co.nz
The garments aren’t cheap, but they’re well made. I’ve come across Chalky Digit clothing before and the preloved garments usually remain in pretty good condition and hold their value quite well.
You can sign up for the Chalky Digits email newsletter and go in the draw to win a winter wardrobe worth $500 – not too shabby. Go here and be sure to put down FindingFashion.co.nz as where you found out about them.
Back to the jumper I discovered, well I did visit the website and found the exact same item was still listed.
Here are the details, it’s officially called a Luxury Lounger Merino Cardy. 100% merino 190gm
“ An all-time staple for every woman’s wardrobe – the essential merino cardy with deep hood and perfectly placed pockets for keeping those fingers cosy, plus zip-up front. We all have more than one of these in our wardrobes – they are just so useful!”
And I have to agree, this puppy is really warm and has quickly become my evening go-to.
The price, well it is on the site for $259, and me, well just maybe I got mine for less than $50… or maybe even less than $8…. my lips are sealed… I am the Finder….
