Is dressing for your personality even a ‘thing’? I’ve seen at least one other style consultant mention that dressing to suit your personality is just as important as shape and colour.
If you happened to miss my previous post on Dressing Your Truth you can catch it here. In this post, I promised I would share with you which type of personality I arrived at for myself, which flows on to what you wear.
In case you don’t know, Dressing Your Truth (DYT) is an online do-it-yourself makeover program. It’s designed to teach you about your unique Type of beauty, give you insights and tools to feel more confident and dress to suit your style.
Basically, it’s dressing to honour your personality.
OK, I have to admit I spent AGES looking through Carol Tuttle’s blog and watching all the video’s about my type. I was torn between Type 2 and Type 4, only because I loved the Type 2 clothing more! Scarves…sigh…
Turns out in the grand scheme of things you can have a dominant type and a secondary type, which in this case would be a 4/2.
I knew I definitely wasn’t a Type 1; I’m quite shy and would never talk to people in a check-out line – I’m more reserved. Some things for a Type 2 resonated but I’m not overly emotional and Type 3 well that really wasn’t me either.
Arh, you got it. I classed myself as a Type 4. And I just thought I was a perfectionist – seems this is ok as a type four. I like being on time, being structured, being precise, perfecting and planning things – but I also like alone-time. Yes, I like systems and spreadsheets… darn it… just can’t help myself and I just don’t do spontaneity – at all.
After starting selling pre-loved clothing on TradeMe, I had slowly started to get an idea of what styles of clothing I liked, more shirts than t-shirts, vertical lines etc. And this course just re-affirmed what I was beginning to work out on my own.
Here are some examples of Type Four fashion, which reflects our personality. So we look for bold, stripes, stiff fabric etc.
So, you might see these types of styles reflected in the items I find for Finding Fashion on TradeMe, and this will be the reason why!
