Madewell an offshoot from J. Crew, just announced their first-ever sustainable swimwear line, a 32-piece collection using fabric spun from recycled plastic bottles.
With the collection, appropriately called Second Wave, Madewell joins the growing number of brands seeking more sustainable ways to manufacture clothing. As consumers increasingly place more emphasis on eco-mindedness, major retailers—from Adidas to Patagonia—have opted to incorporate recycled plastics into their products, swimwear included. As a result, billions of bottles have been transformed from waste to wearables—and the results couldn’t be cuter.
